EXPLOITATION

Remote Sensing provides support to oil and gas industry exploitation opertations through airborne and satellite based sensors as well as remote sensing on the surface through seismics surveys

Satellite based remote sensing is often the only way to collect infomraiton of the historical conditions in a project area.  This includes long term trend data, seasonal and annual variations.

Baselining

Oil and gas reserves are often located in bodies of water, which require significant study to anticipate the environmental impacts of drilling in the area.  Remote sensing allows these coastal focus studies to occur over the large areas affected by coastal operations.

Coastline Dynamics Assessment
Pipeline Construction

Oil and gas reserve drilling sites often require pipelines to get the oil to the refineries.  Remote sensing assists in numerous pipleine activities in the exploitation phase such as digital evelevation models for the pipeline placement and vegitation studies for pipeline routes.

Many governmental organizations are involved in the oversight of the exploitation phase.  Remote sensing data allows these agencies to ensure compliance will government regulation.
